The Nord of the Rings.

The Nord gets a little help from Mint Drive and Ghost Ridge.

Today, we are exploring how we can enhance the sound of the Nord Electro Four using Mint Drive and Ghost Ridge.

0:00 - 0:20 Lonely little Nord.

We begin this video by demonstrating the bypass sound of the Nord. It sounds good but with a little help from Mint Drive and Ghost Ridge we can make it sound great!

0:21 - 0:40 Rounding the edges.

In this segment we use the Mint Drive to cut a small amount of high end and add some light compression. The goal here isn’t to drive the Nord into obvious distortion but rather to to subtley sweeten the tone. This setting is great for fattening up chords with higher polyphony while still maintaining a relatively clean sound.

0:41 - 1:20 Adding reverb to create a whole new atmosphere.

Now that we have Mint Drive dialed in, let’s add some hall reverb from Ghost Ridge to bring this organ to life. The hall setting works wonderfully on a multitude of instruments, but it really shines in this example and helps nail the sound of playing the organ in a large, reflective space. Kinda spooky, kinda somber, totally beautiful.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for Ghost Ridge and here for Mint Drive.
