Frybread bass.
Frybread bass.
Today we are running bass into Frybread Fuzz for maximum grit, grind, and growl. Join us as we explore some of the many flavors this captivating combo has to offer.
0:00 - 0:10 Homebase.
Let’s begin with a small sample of the bypass signal for reference. We will be using the P pickup of our trusty Fender Mustang bass for all clips in this demo.
0:11 - 0:39 Gnarly not noisy.
Now that we’ve heard the bypass signal, let’s add some dirt from Frybread! With the Fuzz control set between ten and eleven o’clock we get a throaty and aggressive break up with a big bump in mids. Notice how even though Frybread Fuzz is adding a huge amount of gain, it’s not adding any unwanted noise to our signal!
0:40 - 0:56 Clean picking.
Let’s have another quick listen to the bypass signal before moving on. In this clip we’ll check out a mellower bass line with lighter playing dynamics.
0:57 - 1:24 Mids! Mids! Mids!
Rolling the tone down, we get an even bigger emphasis on the mid range frequencies, producing a boxy and focused sound that is fun to play and easy to place in a mix or live setting.
1:25 - 1:42 Clean sound.
Let’s check out the bypass again before trying another setting on Frybread Fuzz. We’ll play a longer progression with light picking and throw in some bass chords to mix it up.
1:43 - 2:30 Fuzz on demand.
With the Fuzz control all the way down, Frybread creates a touch sensitive fuzz that beautifully reacts to your playing dynamics. Lighter playing stays relatively clean while digging in creates a harmonically rich top end with the right amount of bite.
2:31 - 2:44 Last stop for cleans.
Let’ take one last listen to the bypass signal before we try a higher gain setting with a heavier playing dynamic.
2:45 - 3:17 Heavy handed.
For this last section, let’s bring up the Fuzz control to around noon but also bring up the Tone control for some added sparkle. The combination of heavier picking dynamics and higher gain creates a thick and complex fuzz with tons of mids to make sure you don’t get lost in the band mix.
Let’s make some noise!
