Late night snack.

Do you love tasty fuzz tones? How about classic analog phaser swoosh? If you answered yes to either, then please join us as we pair up the mighty Midnight phaser and Frybread Fuzz in limited “Greezy Gold” finish to cook up something extra special!

0:00 – 0:16 No fuzz, no phaser, no fun.

We’ll begin our demo today with a small taste of the unaffected signal for reference. For this riff we will be playing a single coil pickup in the neck position.

0:17 – 0:40 Going through a phase.

Adding Midnight into the equation, things instantly become more interesting. We’ve dialed in a classic, deep phaser sound with a medium rate to provide plenty of movement. Notice the feedback control is all the way down, this is helpful in dialing in those warmer and gentler phase sounds.

0:41 – 1:15 Adding fuzz for more throb.

Let’s add Frybread Fuzz to further accentuate the movement that Midnight is providing. We’ll leave the Fuzz control all the way down and use Frybread’s volume and tone controls to dial in a fuzzy, low gain drive sound. This pairing really brings out the movement in the low-mid frequencies, giving you that old school “throbby” rotary speaker vibe.

1:16 – 1:30 You can’t pass on bypass.

Let’s check in again with our bypass tone, but this time let’s switch to the bridge humbucker for a darker and dirtier bypass tone.

1:31 - 1:46 Same settings, different pickup.

Let’s hear Midnight again, but this time on the bridge humbucker. The phasing sounds thicker here even though we are using the same settings. This is a good reminder to try out different pickup settings when using effects because it can make a huge difference in the overall sound.

1:47 - 2:22 Fuzzin’ up the phase.

Adding Frybread, we get a big ol’ dose of low-end, resulting in a fun and crunchy, low-gain fuzz sound. This is noticeably dirtier than our first clip due to the higher output of the bridge pickup, but still pairs beautifully with Midnight’s lush phasing.

2:23 - 2:29 One last look at bypass.

Let’s check in with out bypass signal one last time before blowing it up! We’ll stick with the bridge humbucker for this last demonstration.

2:30 - 2:45 High gain fuzz.

This time let’s hear Frybread Fuzz in a higher gain setting. With the Fuzz control set to around three o’clock, we are firmly in fuzzed out territory. The tone is gated and aggressive but warm and controllable allowing you to interact with the added sustain without harsh feedback.

2:46 - 3:21 Moving while you’re grooving.

We have our fuzzy goodness dialed in, but what if you want something more interesting? Adding Midnight to our already fuzzed out sound adds a sense of space and movement to make the tone really jump out at you. There’s a reason that so many fuzz connoisseurs also love phasers and we totally get it.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for Frybread Fuzz and here for Midnight.
