Hit me with that greezy gold.
Greezy gold.
Today we are dialing in some tasty tones with Frybread Fuzz in super limited edition “Greezy Gold” finish. You get all the pushed power amp sounds, the crispy crunch, the ferocious fuzz, all packed into an enclosure that would make Mr. T proud. I pity the fool who misses out on this one!
0:00 – 0:32 Cooking with grease.
Let’s dive right in and crank the fuzz! With the fuzz control all the way up you get a thick and harmonically rich break up that will make you want to play all those sludgy heavy riffs. Frybread’s mid focused voicing helps you cut through the mix in any situation, while its extensive gain range provides you with enough versatility to explore the wide, wide world of fuzz.
0:33 – 1:07 Less greasy, still grimy.
Backing the gain down to around ten o’clock will still produce an aggressive fuzz, but chords will have more clarity and jangle. This is probably my personal favorite setting; it works great for sections that need to be heavy while also providing enough definition for complex chords.
1:08 – 2:06 Letting the fuzz breathe.
Without adjusting any settings, let’s play something with some more negative space to hear how Frybread sustains. In this setting the space between your playing becomes just as important as the notes you play. Sustained notes ring out effortlessly, creating a beautifully responsive playing experience that feels alive!
2:07 – 2:30 Adding some thickness with Frybread.
Our bypass tone in this section is a little on the thin side, but have no fear, because we can use Frybread Fuzz not only to add some gain and character, but also to make up for any low end the signal might be lacking. This setting also emphasizes your pick attack without being too harsh.
2:31 - 3:13 Frybread goes with everything.
We’ll start this section off with some single note riffing and move into chords at the end to show how well Frybread Fuzz does both! Some fuzz pedals are great for single notes but fall apart when you start playing chords. Frybread Fuzz does a great job of balancing both tasks without having to change your settings, which means you can focus on playing instead of twisting knobs.
3:14 - 416 Frybread plays nice.
In this section we will dial the fuzz all the way back to show the softer side of Frybread Fuzz. For me, this is one of the things that really sets Frybread Fuzz apart from other fuzzes. Most fuzz pedals are so distorted right out of the gate that you don’t get any kind of low gain sounds to play with. However, with Frybread Fuzz you get a pushed amp sound that is responsive to the dynamics of your playing with a just a hint of fuzz.
4:17 - 4:41 Bass versus bread.
Now that we’ve heard some examples on guitar, let’s bust out the big strings! In this example we are using Frybread Fuzz for some extra low end but also for some added grind. Frybread Fuzz’s mid focused sound adds character with clarity to give you all the heft you want while ensuring you don’t get lost in the mix.
4:42 - 5:09 One bad bass.
For our final clip, let’s push the gain up a little while also rolling the tone back a pinch. Bringing up the gain we get more fuzz, but also some added low end. This in combination with our darker tone setting creates an aggressive fuzz that is also warm and easy to control.
Let’s make some noise!
