From nice to spice in one setting.

Going old school with War Party.

Back before the days of huge pedalboards and stacking multiple drives, players relied on their instrument’s volume control to expand their tonal pallet. If you spend any amount of time talking to experienced players, you will undoubtedly hear them mention this technique. In today’s blog, we will explore this idea by using a static setting on the War Party and adjusting the guitar’s volume control to achieve a wide range of sounds.

Keeping the party under control.

Notice that the gain is around nine o’clock, a setting with enough oomph to be well into heavy distortion territory. But by rolling our guitar’s volume about halfway down we create a tough and articulate rhythm sound, with thick compression and subtle break up that responds beautifully to the dynamics of your playing. This will serve as our “clean” tone, and it only gets better from here.

The party goes where it wants to go.

So now that we have our “clean” tone dialed in we simply roll up the guitar’s volume control to unleash all that War Party has to offer. More dirt, more sustain, more everything! The subtle break up we had before has been seamlessly transformed to fully saturated distortion and since we are getting all of our sounds from one pedal there is a natural continuity between our mildest and wildest tones. It’s simple, effective, and a great way to get the most out of the higher gain settings in War party.

Let’s make some noise!
