Dynamic distortion with room to spare.

Reverb and drive, make it come alive.

In today’s video we're exploring Buffalo Days and War Party by keeping settings the same but achieving different tonalities simply by adjusting our playing dynamics.

0:00 - 0:10 A quick sample of our bypass sound.
Let’s start off with our dry signal, for this demonstration we will be using our trusty Fender Duo-Sonic.

0:11 - 0:38 A prickly pair.

In this section, using War Party and a soft pick attack we achieve a biting “dirty clean”. We’ll add some moodiness via the room setting from Buffalo Days creating a tone that feels like a big ball of energy ready to explode.

0:39 - 1:02 A huge shift with a flick of the wrist.

Now, without changing any settings, let’s get a a completely different tone. Playing with a heavier hand, we achieve a thick and harmonic rich distortion. War Party excels here in producing a natural, amp-like breakup that’s wonderfully responsive and extremely versatile. The room reverb jumps out more with harder playing dynamics, but still sits politely in the mix without getting in the way.

1:03 - 1:30 Clean it up with a lighter touch.

Switching back to lighter playing dynamics, we are back to that sweet “dirty clean” we started out with. This pair are great for players who use “always on” pedals or for people who like to set it and forget it. Sometimes less really is more.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for Buffalo Days and here for War Party.
