Groovin’ on the Volca.

Groovin’ on the Volca.

Today we are getting down to the beat with War Party and the Korg Volca Sample. Join us as we use War Party to add some grit to our groove and elevate our beat from humble to ready to rumble.

Flat as a pancake. 0:00 – 0:08

We will start out with a small sample of the bypass sound of the Volca Sample. Now don’t get me wrong, I love this little drum machine but without some processing it can sound a bit sterile. Luckily, we can add a ton of character with a little help from War Party.

Medium gain. 0:09 – 1:09

Now let’s bring in War Party to get a more interesting sound. With the gain control set around noon, we can achieve much more musical sounding drums. The snare has more snap and authority, the kick has more punch, and the shift in tone somehow makes the Volca sound less stiff.

Booming bass. 1:10 – 1:50

Lastly, let’s bring up the gain to get this groove a movin’. With the gain control set to roughly two o’clock and the tone set at about eleven, we get a thick, aggressive tone with noticeably fuller low-end and enough character to make boring or thin sounding drum machines a thing of the past.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for War Party.
