Spacing things out.

We continue exploring how the Aakii Chorus/Vibrato plays with other pedals in the NativeAudio line, and next up is a pairing with our Buffalo Days Multi-Reverb. We’ll take a different direction with Aakii and Buffalo Days by combine these two in a way that goes against your typical reverb-chorus setup.

Like adding gravy to mashed potatoes, we’ll be adding our modulation after the reverb. I know it sounds a little different but stay with us and by the end of this blog, you’ll see how you can use Aakii to texturize your reverb tone.

Let’s go big with the verb.

First in the chain is Buffalo Days. Buffalo Days is our multi-reverb pedal that has been designed for those who need a reverb solution in a gig-friendly format. However, don’t be fooled by “gig-friendly” as the Buffalo Days is equipped with up to four different reverb flavors that expand from subtle room to canyon-like ambience.

We’re keeping Buffalo Days in the plate mode which has a longer pre-delay and brighter reflections for a larger sound. The mix and depth are also set at their extremes so we can maximize the full sound scaping capabilities of Buffalo Days for a super ambient feel.

Like pepper, we spice it up.

And… the excitement just keeps coming! We throw Aakii in after the Buffalo Days. Aakii is our chorus/vibrato that, like Buffalo Days, gets the gig-friendly treatment but has designed to be a simple yet effective modulation.

Aakii will be used like an additional control for our reverb and depending on the mix setting of Aakii, we’ll see that the modulation further adds character to our overall reverb tone. However, since Aakii is after Buffalo Days, its effect is more dramatic in how it shapes our sound. The result is a unique yet satisfying modulation, reverb experience.

A short comment on the video.

For our rig, we’re using a Fender Duo Sonic through a Fender Deluxe. Our inner ambient musician is channeled as we max out the plate reverb and play around with the mix control to texturize the reverb tone. We’ll keep the playing subtle and let the pedals do the talking. Keep your ears out for the transition between chorus and vibrato; chorus welcomes a cathedral-like ambience while vibrato’s swirl takes our reverb to a different dimension.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for Aakii and here for Buffalo Days.
