Reverb on the twelve string.

A dozen reasons to love Buffalo Days.

In today’s blog, we are paring the Danelectro electric twelve string with plate mode on Buffalo Days to make the mild into something wild.

0:00 - 0:14 The clean tone.

We begin with a demonstration of the bypass tone. We will be using the neck pickup for the entire demo. Hang on, because we are heading to jangle town.

0:15 - 0:34 Subtle reverb to soften the edges.

This first reverb we will explore today is a classic plate sound. Using a moderate amount of mix and depth we achieve a gentle reverb that helps to “glue” the sound together. It’s not over the top, it won’t get in your way, but it will make it hard to go back to your bypass tone.

0:35 - 0:59 Give us more!

Now that we have some beautiful plate reverb, let’s push mix and depth a little further. In this setting, you get a longer decay and just a hint of shimmer. This makes a great leave on reverb, adding a ton of flavor without being too over the top.

1:00 - 1:27 Lush and shimmering.

Raising both mix and depth yet again, we get an expansive and shimmering sound. Notes are suspended in space and fade out slowly with a long, sparkling decay. The extra high end content provided by the plate setting helps you stand out in the tightest live or studio mixes.

Let’s make some noise!

Now that we’ve explored the possible, let’s go and create the impossible. Visit here for Buffalo Days.
