University of North Carolina Visit (November 2022)

University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill

We had the honor of being invited to the University of North Carolina (UNC) - Chapel Hill. Dr. Daniel M. Cobb and the American Indian and Indigenous Studies department hosted the event, allowing me the opportunity to share the story and sound of NativeAudio.

I couldn’t wait to share my journey and inspire students who are working hard to make dreams a reality. It was always my hope to encourage the student that felt destined for more. The student who didn’t feel like the norm was their thing. The student who desired the kooky, the wild, and the one determined to make change.

The first day was spent with Dr. Cobb and some of the native graduate students (Frankie and Marissa) from the American Indian & Indigenous Studies — we shared stories and had so much fun connecting. They also provided a tour around the campus, sharing their work in the indigenous community.

The second day was showtime. I had so much fun today sharing the story and sound of NativeAudio with a room full of students! The UNC’s American Indian & Indigenous Studies also did an amazing job hosting the event. It was refreshing seeing future creators inspired, asking questions, and really diving into the brand.

The third and final day of the visit continued with a meet and greet. We posted up at the American Indian Center and had engaging conversations with students from all ranges of backgrounds. We talked about business, culture, creativity, and made some noises with the NativeAudio pedals.

It has always been a dream to inspire others to break the boundaries of the status quo — to get weird, wild, and whacky. I think we did it and I can’t wait to see the inspiration that comes from this event.

Change was made this week. Change for the better.

A huge thanks to Dr. Cobb and the American Indian & Indigenous Studies department for the invite.

Thank you.
